Welcome to the Del Mar Yacht Club

Opening Day Information
- Wednesday - July 22, 2009
- Seabiscuit SkyRoom (Limited to 170 Guests)
- Killer View. Two outdoor patios - a smaller one that you can "lean on the rail" and get a great view of
the track action. And then there is the "Big Bubba" that offers great views of both the Pacific Ocean
and the track. You can also "lean on the rail" of that one as well.
- Outdoor tables on the Big Bubba. Includes free Pacific breezes and sunshine. Shade or Sun tables.
Can't get any better than that. Of course, you can choose to remain in the air-conditioned comfort
inside of the SkyRoom. It has many individual tables that offer unsurpassed views of the "track
action."
- Delicious Del Mar Deli Buffet Lunch from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. You will enjoy it. Yummy! And it is included
in your ticket purchase price.
- Large, easy to use shaded buffet table on the Big Bubba. You can attack that thing from two directions
so that you can quickly erect your own "Dagwood Sandwich" to your liking. "Seconds" are allowed.
But, be careful on this one, and pace yourself. Your barge can quickly become over-filled. Burp. FOD
on deck. Clean up on Aisle 3. Sweepers, sweepers...
- Cocktails, wine, beer, coffee, decaf, tea, and soft drinks are served on the Big Bubba and inside the
SkyRoom at our very own private watering holes. The coffee, decaf, tea, and water are free. So are
the ice cubes. The rest (sorry, mate) you have to pay for yourself - right out of your own prize money.
Two holes this year. You can also order a bottle of your favorite champagne or wine for you and your
special guest to share.
- Two wagering windows inside the Seabiscuit SkyRoom with live parimutuel attendants, and three easy-
to-use wagering machines in the SkyRoom. Yikes! Five ways to place a bet. No waiting lines here.
- Giant Infield video monitor so that you can clearly and easily see what is happening throughout the
race - even on the back stretch. Binoculars are no longer required (unless you want to peep at the
crowd below). It's great.
- Plenty of video monitors inside the SkyRoom so that you can easily "view the action" from the Del Mar
track and paddock, as well as the rest of the tracks that are racing that day. View the "odds", etc. on
one screen, view the paddock on another, view races at other tracks on another. And you can wager
on any of the races at any of the tracks - right from "our" SkyRoom.
- Lot's of audio outputs so that you can easily "hear the call" from the Trevor.
- The Del Mar Yacht Club has sponsored a race every year. Two lucky Club individuals will be selected
to be photographed in the Winner's Circle with the Winning Horse, Jockey, Owner, and Trainer.
- Rest rooms just a few steps away.
- Doors Open at 11:30 a.m.
- First Post at 2:00 p.m.
- Smoking is allowed on the outdoor patios.
- Cigars, Cigarettes, Cigarillos. Pipes. No tobacco inside the SkyRoom, please.
- Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
- Del Mar, California.
- Reservations Now available! Click here. OOPS. Sold Out this year as of 6/30/09.

And Away They Go!
Tickets for the Del Mar Yacht Club Opening Day activities are available for purchase NOW!!!
Hold your horses, and hang on to your saddle horn. You, as a previous guest, have first priority. You
will get first crack, but the time to crack is right now. Once we get your doubloons via PayPal and
receive a PayPal confirmation, all you must do is check "The List" to make sure that your name is
there, and then check inside your saddle bags when you arrive at En Fuego. There will be a ticket in
there waiting just for you...somewhere between the hardtack and bacon. Boing!
Nobody will be allowed to "cut in line" in front of you if you act quickly. Conduct a couple of clicks here
and you are in. But, you better get underway and right away - because the tix are up for sail now, and if
you don't capture them...then another pirate will. And it will happen. Fast. And that's the way it is,
because it is what it is. And it always was. And it always will be.
Now, cast off the lines, and weigh anchor. The List is growing longer each day. Here is The List.
Ahoy, mates. All hands muster.
Opening Day Festivities tickets will only be offered via our secure online PayPal. PayPal is an ordering and payment
service. If you do not have a PayPal account, click here to see what it is all about. U can pay for products via PayPal
from the Del Mar Yacht Club or any merchant that accepts PayPal. PayPal accepts a credit card, debit card, or a
bank account. The Del Mar Yacht Club will never know any of your credit details. U may also use a credit card to
purchase from the shopping cart instead of PayPal if you wish.
You may order tickets from the cart now. You will receive an email confirmation from PayPal shortly after you place
your order, and the tickets will be waiting for you at En Fuego.
- Your tickets will not be mailed to you, even though the cart indicates "free shipping." You must pick them up
yourself at En Fuego or at the Group Sales Will Call Window at the track. The reason that the shipping is free is
because the tickets will not be shipped! You must collect them in person in Del Mar.
- For Del Mar Yacht Club members who are due the $5.00 discount on your ticket purchase, we will get it to you.
Either cash in hand at En Fuego, or "at the box." But you will get it.
- Now, let's get the fleet underway.
This site is updated frequently. It is an eye test. Keep your eyes peeled, you scurvy-laden gallute.

No-Spam Pledge: The Del Mar Yacht Club will never rent, sell, or give away your email address, mailing address,
or telephone number to anyone for any reason without your written permission. Simple, eh?
Check weather conditions / forecasts (del mar 92014, solana beach 92075) and traffic conditions and here on
Opening and Closing Days - so that you will know what to expect. Hint for all of you Dick Tracey's : Expect
crowded roads, and plan accordingly. Best bet is to arrive early. Why waste your time on the road in a traffic jam
waiting to happen (unless that is your definition of excitement and adventure), when you can be enjoying the view
and activities at the track? Arrive early...take a walkabout...look at some pictures that are all over the place.
Learn some history. Acquaint yourself with the many amenities. Buy a shirt at Silks. Join the Diamond Club. Or,
hold your horses, and make a day of it! Forget the half-day at the office excuse. Enjoy breakfast at one of the
local eating establishments, and fun-on from there. Some offer free / nearly free shuttles to the track.
Special Top Secret Advice for Del Mar Yacht Clubbers - If you do not wish to fight the traffic grind at the track,
park at the Solana Beach Train Station. Click this too. And this. You can arrive at the station by auto, Amtrak,
Coaster. Lot's of ways. San Diego Trolley from Tijuana. Click this. Or Amtrak from Seattle - or anywhere else.
Then, take the double-decker to the track - it is a only a short one mile ride away. The deckers leave and return
frequently. Leave the driving to them. Peruse the Union Tribune, Racing Digest, and Daily Racing Form on the
way to clue you in on your bets. Or gab with the neighbors. The time will pass quickly. Give the driver a one buck
tip each way. It's worth it. And you can even make it a 2fer, if you wish. Arrive / park at the station in the
morning, trot across the street to Mr.T's. Enjoy a "down home style" breakfast, then take a decker to the track.
You can even take a walk on the beach in between those activities - you know, so that you "walk off" your
breakfast. Make a day of it...it only happens once a year. Take advantage of it. It is fun. It really is!
When the flag is up, you must act fast..and the FLAG IS UP!
Another Great Day at the Races on Opening Day on 7/22/09.
A fun time was had by all - including the fun time at En Fuego!
We've been doing this fun stuff annually since 1993. Any bucks that we
accumulate after expenses, we donate to charities. This year, we will
make three donations totaling $5000. We are able to make this relatively
large donation because we have been accruing bucks over the past few
years - saving up for donations. And here they are:
Camp Beyond the Scars
Smile Train
Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund
The following stuff applied to the July 22, 2009 Opening Day. But you can still click on links for information. Check back
with us in May for 2010 reservations. Only the names and dates will be changed (to protect the innocent). Opening Day
for 2010 is Wednesday, July 21. Make it happen!
