Del Mar Yacht Club

This is hush-hush.  Strictly on the Q.T.

Do not pass this along to any gossip columnist, television reporter, talk radio host, or presidential candidate.

La Playita Inn.

Tired of spending $200-$500 for a hotel room?  For stuff that you don't even want?  Check this out: small but
very comfortable hotel (about 25 rooms) located in a small fishing village near San Jose del Cabo...between
Buzzard's (to the east) and all of the tourist stuff in Cabo San Lucas (to the west).

Across the road from the beach.  A huge marina is under construction immediately next to La Playita.  Hint: La
Playita will not remain secluded much longer.  Now is the time to visit if you wish to stay off of the beaten path.
No tellin' what will happen as the marina develops.

La Playita is not "touristy."   Do not pay attention to the occasional sour review...not everyone can have fun all of
the time.  Most of those that visit La Playita return year after year.

It is a genuine down to earth hotel in a no-kidding fishing village.  Many streets are not even paved...but the
people are very friendly.  Small swimming pool, and a "community room / kitchen" where you can make your
own sandwiches, fashion your own beverages, etc.

You cannot get closer to world-class marlin fishing than right there.  Pango boats everywhere.  They launch at
dawn, and return in the early afternoon.  The fish markets are right there.

Clean rooms, clean sheets.  Commodore Jim says...
yo bubba...if you want to relax at a great place at a great
price (about 75 bucks - rates subject to change, naturally)...this is it.  No over-sized fluffy pillows or room
service.  But you can fish (or shop, or golf, or surf, or sail, snorkel, or scuba dive) all day. You can even do that
beachcomber stuff...if you bring your own comb.  Or, you can play canasta, dominoes, or card or board games
that you have never heard of.  The showers, lights, lamps, and toilets work, as do the T.V.'s.  Hot water right in
your room.  You want air conditioning?  Open the window and turn on the ceiling fan.

Catch your own fish.  Bring it back to the La Playita Restaurant (located next to the La Playita Innl).  Those folks
will grill it to your satisfaction that very night in their own restaurant.  They even do all that chef stuff...like garlic
and lemon juice and a sauté.

If you don't have a fish, they will get one for you...right from the one of the fish markets across the street.  Fresh
that day...every day.  Or you can pick one out yourself....just hit the fish markets when the boats return...and you
can cut your own deal.

Don't want fish dinner on a platter that evening?  Not to worry, mate...La Playita Restaurant has lot's of other
stuff available...like steaks, ribs, chops, chicken, salads, and (of course) fish tacos.  And...natch...cold and
refreshing
Mexican beer and margarita's (if'n that is what you have a hankering for).  Of course, sodas, iced
tea, and lemonade also ready for the grabbin'.  And cool, cool, clean and fresh water.

La Playita Inn is so secret that they do not even have a web-site.  However, the "tourist epicenter" of Cabo San
Lucas (complete with cruise ships, bars, restaurants, shops, and bou-darn-tiques) is only a twenty minute
cab ride away.

Playita...clickety-split!

For those of you that require internet access between whatever adventure you are experiencing during the day
or night, high speed internet cafe is right in town...San Jose del Cabo.  Another tourist destination in the
greater Cabo San Lucas area.  Five dollar cab ride away.

George and Joanne will take care of you...guaranteed!

Note: The season starts November 1st.  Just wanted to give you a heads-up so you could get a head start on
the others.  The La Playita Restaurant is currently undergoing major a renovation, and the La Playita Inn is
undergoing a minor renovation.  Both should be up and running full speed ahead by November 1st.

South of the Border

This is Big Time fun!
Directly across the dirt road from Buzzard's
(a mere 200 yards from the briny main) is the
largest known golf course sand-trap in the
world...the legendary Rattlesnake Arroyo Golf
Course (9 holes).  There is not a blade of
grass within three miles!

You are playing in the trap...putts and all...all
of the time!

And you don't use them wood things...ya use
them iron things.  Tee's are mandatory.

If'n you whack a ball off of one of the
designated "fairways", you get to scrounge
and trudge through heavy brush, trees,
cactus, and a buncha other stuff on the
perimeter as part of your search effort.  No
tellin' what you'll find in them things.  Mostly
stranded, lost, and wayward golf balls -
missing since who knows when (and they
come in all colors).  If the ball you are
searching for is the same color as the nearest
one that you find...use it.  Cheating is allowed.

Commodore Jim says that he personally
explored for errant shots on more than one
occasion...and it ain't particularly easy when
your golf shoes are blown out flip-flops.

Commodore Jim says he played the course
(although he never plinked a link in his life
prior to that)...but man-oh-man, those
breakfasts at Buzzard's are the best!
