Del Mar Yacht Club
An "aha" moment and a Slice of History:

The Del Mar Yacht Club, over the years, has generously
donated to local charities...to the best of our abilities.

In our very first year, on Opening Day, we contributed a buncha
bucks (Commodore Jim says he thinks it was 500...but we did
not have many bucks back then...in fact, we don't have much
right now) to the Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund.
One year,  we were very happy and proud to donate 1,000 bucks via (at the time) Fire
Chief (now retired) Jack Gosney of the Del Mar Fire Department so that we could assist
in the recovery from fire tragedies to The Burn Institute Children's Camp.
Another time...and not because we were pansies...we
donated some bucks to The Del Mar Garden Club so they
could enhance the community of Del Mar by improving the
median strip on Highway 101 by plunking down some
plants.  Those plants are still plunked...and doing quite
nicely, thank you very much!
Here is another fine organization we were pleased to
contribute bucks (1,000 of 'em) to...The Del Mar Optimist Club.
       
Commodore Jim, on behalf of the entire DMYC, presenting a
$1,000 check to Del Mar Fire Chief Jack Gosney for the kids
at the Burn Institute Children's Camp.
